Two more Brazilian meat suppliers suspended from exports to China

Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply said China has temporarily suspended meat imports from Naturafrig Alimentos Ltda and Plena Alimentos, Reuters reported.

According to the O Estado de S. Paulo newspaper, both companies have been suspended from exports to China for one week after China detected COVID-19 coronavirus traces from the food packaging of both companies.

Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply confirmed the suspension to Reuters, but did not provide further comment. Both companies did not respond to requests for comment.

In addition to Naturafig and Plena, China has also temporarily suspended meat imports from meat plants owned by major meat companies BRF SA and JBS SA. Some suspensions have already been lifted.
