Irish pig slaughterings up 8.3% in October
The number of pigs slaughtered in Ireland increased 8.3% in October, while cattle decreased 9.8%, compared with October 2016, according to the latest figures released by the Irish Central Statistics Office.
Sheep slaughterings also stepped up in October by 14.9%.
During the 10-month period from January to October, pig slaughterings increased 1.2%. So did cattle slaughterings, by 6.3%, and sheep slaughterings, by 10.7%.
