FMD Outbreak in Nepal Claims More Than 30 Cattles

At least 30 cattle heads have already died and thousands of livestock have been affected by the foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) that has spread out in Nepal's central district of Rasuwa over the past two weeks, Nepal National News Agency reported last Friday.

The disease has been speedily spreading out in nine villages of Rasuwa District, some 80 kilometers north of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.

A technical team from the district animal service office has been carrying a vaccination program to prevent the epidemic. Some 300 livestock have been vaccinated so far against the communicable disease.

Meanwhile, the district animal service office has also appealed to all the farmers in the surrounding areas to vaccinate all their livestock above four months of age.
