Cargill showcases commitment to sustainable agriculture at China International Supply Chain Expo

The first China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) , also known as Chain Expo, was recently held in Beijing, China, from November 28 to December 2.
As a global leader in agriculture and food, Cargill made an appearance in the Green Agriculture Chain section, demonstrating its achievements in driving sustainable agricultural practices and technological innovations.
Cargill's participation at CISCE highlighted its complete agricultural supply chain operations, from procurement and storage to trading, processing and distribution of grains and oilseeds, demonstrating its provision of premium products and solutions from global markets to the feed and food industry, the organisation said.
Innovations in animal nutrition, health, food solutions, biotech, metal supply chain management and ocean transportation services were also featured.
Robert Aspell, president of Cargill Asia Pacific, said: "Following our participation in the sixth CIIE, Cargill is once again present at the inaugural Chain Expo. This reflects our commitment to the Chinese market and sustainable agricultural development in China. Cargill continues to connect global and Chinese agricultural and food systems, advancing sustainable agriculture and rural revitalisation in China."
Cargill works closely with Chinese government organisations, clients and partners to achieve sustainability goals. The company is committed to reducing carbon emissions, actively supporting China's dual-carbon objectives by utilising renewable energies such as solar, wind and biomass, demonstrating its leadership in creating sustainable agricultural supply chains.
At the sixth China International Import Expo, Cargill launched a year-long regenerative agriculture research and practice project with the China Development Research Foundation, aiming to promote green development in Chinese agriculture and support the national carbon neutrality goal, contributing ¥1 million (US$139,377) to the project.
In July 2023, Cargill China and the Rural Economy Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs started a year-long conservation tillage/regenerative agriculture pilot project in Jilin Province, monitoring 100 corn-growing households over an area of no less than 10,000 mu (approximately 1,650 acres).
Lily Guan, president of Cargill China, said: "Cargill profoundly understands the importance of promoting green and circular agriculture globally, which aligns with the Chinese government's policies to encourage energy conservation and emission reduction in the agricultural and rural sectors. At the Chain Expo, we showcase Cargill's efforts and best practices in green development for China's and the global agricultural supply chain, and we look forward to deepening discussions and exchanges with all stakeholders through this platform."
At CISCE, Cargill presented two symbolic routes, representing the complete supply chains for soybeans and corn. These routes visually trace how the crops move from field to harvest, transportation, processing, cooking and ultimately to the market or dinner table as products familiar to consumers. These pathways illustrate the innovation at different stages of the supply chain and the practice of renewable agriculture.
