Virtual summit focuses on challenges faced by pig farmers in Germany

During a late-November virtual summit to analyse the challenges faced by pig farmers in Germany,  measures had been proposed to help the industry.

The measures proposed included storage aid for pork and direct aid to pig farmers within a framework of support established to address issues pertaining to COVID-19.

Germany's Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) also plans to start the payment of private storage aid in mid-January.

Julia Klöckner, the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, convened the meeting to analyse the situation in the German pig industry with counterparts from German federal states.
