Vietnam lifts pangasius' minimum export price for 2011
Local seafood exporters and the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) have attained an agreement to increase next year the minimum export prices for pangasius fish.
Pangasius fish will be exported at prices of at least US$3 per kilo for white meat and US$2.05 kilo for red meat, local news reported Monday (Dec 13). The current floor price is US$2.7 per kilo for white meat.
The VASEP will submit a plan on supervising the minimum export prices of pangasius fish to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as to the General Department of Custom.
Vietnam's Mekong Delta exported 650,000 tonnes of pangasius fish products so far this year. The region expects to have export revenues of US$2.5 billion of this kind of fish in 2010.
