China Methionine Weekly: Traders cut prices to stimulate sales (week ended Dec 10, 2018)

*Commonly referred to in China as liquid methionine is methionine hydroxyl analogue, a liquid source of supplemental methionine.
Market analysis
Poultry feed producers remained prudent, limiting the purchases of methionine while sales were below expectations. Although producers stood firm while producing to meet previously concluded orders, traders cut prices in efforts to entice buyers.
In Europe, prices of China-produced methionine were in the range of EUR2.09-2.12/kg.
Market forecast
Tepid sales will hold down the prices of methionine even though producers who are facing low inventory pressure may attempt to lift prices. Traders who are keen to compete to close deals will negotiate prices readily.
