Argentina's poultry production up 170% in last 10 years
 

 

Argentina's Ministry of Industry report revealed that the country's poultry production grew 170% in the last 10 years.

 

From 2003-12, Argentine poultry production increased by 170%, and per capita consumption increased by 116%, while exports grew at an annual average of 36%.

 

"Argentina has all the elements to become a leader in food production," says Industry Minister, Debora Giorgi.

 

Last year, Argentina's poultry production level was 1.9 million and by 2020, the sector plans to reach a production level of three million tonnes, bringing the per capita consumption to 50 kilogrammes (currently standing at 40 kilogrammes) and the exports to around US$2,475 million (in 2012 it was US$530 million).

 

The guidelines for the sector will regionalise production, see progress in adding value and deepening sector integration. Moreover, the aim is to organise of the egg industry and its derivatives, consolidating and strengthening.
