Ukraine Exported 2.21 Million Tons 2004 Wheat

Ukraine exported 2.21 million metric tons of wheat since the beginning of the current marketing year July 1 to Dec. 8, according to information released Friday by the state customs committee.

Barley exports to date was 2.77 million tons, rye exports 40,000 tons.

Ukraine's grain harvest this year is about 35.5 million tons, compared with just over 20 million tons last year, when bad weather damaged crops.

The agriculture ministry expects grain exports in the current marketing season of 11-12 million tons.

In the 2003-2004 marketing season Ukraine exported 2.8 million tons of grain.
