Aviagen's Arbor Acres® team held its first North African seminar on October 11-12 in Hammamet, Tunisia.
Joining the group were Aviagen Arbor Acres team members including regional technical manager of Turkey, Middle East and North Africa (TMENA) Murat Yakar, international commercial manager Khalil Nassar, international technical manager Moez Eleuch, technical product manager Zied Azzez and nutritionist Xavier Asensio.
Organised by the Arbor Acres MEA team, the meeting was joined by colleagues from Aviagen France and Aviagen LLC, who covered key topics including broiler carcass quality and how to evaluate chick quality at hatch.
The seminar took place at the Hotel Golden Tulip Taj Sultan, and customers from Algeria and Tunisia were in attendance. Key topics related to broiler and breeder management were discussed during the seminar including metabolic related disorders, critical ages in parent stock (PS) rearing, grading, biosecurity, PS and broiler performance trends and nutrition.
"The seminar was very well organised and the presentations were extremely valuable," Merwane Sari, technical and commercial manager of Arbor Acres Algeria. "We hope to work together to gather the performance credentials of our Arbor Acres PS and broiler flocks in the field, in order to benchmark our performance against other companies to ensure that we are continuously improving the performance of our flocks," said Nabila Bourogaa, PS manager of SME. "The Arbor Acres North Africa seminar focused on vital insights concerning different parts of the poultry value chain. The speakers gave very informative presentations, which are very helpful to us when we are working out in the field."
Moez Eleuch said: "The seminar was a great opportunity to gather the professionals in the North African poultry industry, and for them to benefit from the side discussions during the two-day seminar. We are seeing great performance results in the field, and we are thankful to our customers for their assistance in promoting the genetic potential of the Arbor Acres breed within North Africa.
"In addition, I would like to give a special thanks to our colleagues in Aviagen LLC and Aviagen France who contributed as speakers in this seminar. We look forward to future seminars within the North African market."
