Sanderson Farms quashes shareholders' appeal in poultry price fixing trial

Shareholders of Sanderson Farms were unable to reverse the dismissal of a lawsuit that accused the large poultry processing company of being involved in price increases for broiler chicken, reported Reuters.

The shareholders accused Sanderson Farms of hiding its part in a conspiracy involving raising the prices of broiler chickens.

Manhattan's 2nd United States Circuit Court of Appeals said the shareholders were unable to prove that Sanderson Farms' financial disclosures were misleading. In addition, the shareholders failed to show how the company has conducted alleged anticompetitive actions or how it could have affected trade.
