Bird flu concerns and weak hog market weigh on prices of vitamin A in China

In late November, many foreign producers including BASF and Adisseo announced upward adjustments to ex-factory prices of their vitamin A products. However, no upward adjustments to prices of locally produced vitamin A in China were made lately. The bird flu situation has not yet been brought under total control and live hog prices in China have been generally weak this year. Thus, demand for vitamin A in China remained sluggish lately. With trade of locally produced vitamin A remaining light, their transacted prices were stable to marginally lower in recent days.
