More than 10,000 animals in Alagoas, Brazil, vaccinated against classical swine fever

The fifth stage of Brazil's vaccination campaign against classical swine fever (CSF) had 17,011 animals in the state of Alagoas immunised, according to data from the Brazilian Association of Pig Breeders (ABCS).
This stage, which began on October 30, continues until December 12, with vaccinators visiting properties and vaccinating the animals.
Alagoas is the first of the 11 Brazilian states in the non-free zone to join the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock's (MAPA) pilot project.
During the fourth stage, the state achieved the highest vaccination coverage of the campaign against CSF, with 138,519 animals vaccinated on more than 5,000 properties. The initial target was 120,000 animals.
The fourth stage achieved very significant numbers compared to the others carried out in Alagoas.
In the first stage last year, 119,000 animals were vaccinated, followed by 127,000 in the second and 116,000 in the third.
