France confirms second farm bird flu outbreak

France has confirmed a second highly pathogenic bird flu outbreak at a farm in the Saint-Geours-de-Maremne district, the Landes region in southwest France, following the first confirmed farm bird flu outbreak in the same region earlier this week, Reuters reported.

Local authorities have set up a security zone around the affected farm, similar to the first case.

Europe has been hit with several bird flu outbreaks in the past few weeks, believed to be spread by wild birds. The region's poultry industry is on high alert after previous outbreaks resulted in tens of millions of birds culled.
