Vietnam shrimp exporter gain recognition from major US restaurant group
The Sao Ta Joint Stock Food Import-Export Company (Fimex) has received the 2006 Outstanding New Supplier Award from the US Darden Restaurant group for its long-continued supply of safe shrimp products.
Fimex VN is the first Vietnamese food company to receive such recognition, according to the Vietnam Association of Shrimp Exporters and Processors (VASEP).
The company, which exports seafood to more than 30 countries, has earned some US$60 million so far this year.
The company's products, such as fried shrimp and flour-coated shrimp have always achieved the highest standards on food hygiene and freshness as well as natural colour and fragrance, a company statement said.
The company listed on Vietnam's stock market last week.
The Darden group operates more than 1,100 restaurants in the US and is the owner of the Red Lobster and Olive Garden chain of restaurants.
