Pakistan, Argentina sign MoU in dairy, meat
Pakistan and Argentina signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to undertake joint ventures in livestock, dairy production and meat processing and carry out joint research in agro-technology including oilseed and hybrid seed production in Pakistan.
The MoU was signed between Pakistan federal minister of food, agriculture and livestock Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan and his Argentine counterpart Engineer Miguel Campos.
The MoU contemplates exchange of scientists, research and expertise including in the field of biotechnology and also covers import and export of agri products.
Bosan, during his meeting with his Argentine counterpart highlighted specific areas in which Pakistan was looking for mutually beneficial collaboration.
The Argentine side was particularly keen on supplying hybrid sunflower seeds to Pakistan. The country has also offered technical assistance for improving dairy production including pasteurising and distribution infrastructure. Other areas of cooperation identified included sugarcane, wheat and cotton production.
Minguel Campos responded positively to Pakistan's request to visit the country with a delegation of technical experts and livestock and farmers.
