Vietnam Jan-Oct 2003 Seafood Exports To Japan Up 6.5%

 

Vietnam's seafood exports to Japan in January-October 2003 are estimated at US$470 million, up 6.5% year-on-year.

 

According to the Ministry of Fisheries, shrimps made up US$288 million, which accounts for 61%, hence making Vietnam the second largest shrimp exporter to Japan after Indonesia.

 

The Vietnam Ministry of Trade estimates that seafood exports to Japan this year will reach US$570 million, an increase of 20% over 2002. The forecast for 2004 is set at US$600 million.
