New aquaculture firm ELDI formed from three companies owned by Icelandic group

Vónin Aquaculture, Mørenot Aquaculture and Fiizk Protection, all fully owned by the Icelandic Hampidjan Group, are now united under one name: ELDI.
Together, they form one of the world's most comprehensive aquaculture partners, built to meet the industry's growing need for innovation, service, and sustainable growth.
By bringing these three brands together under the name ELDI, Hampidjan strengthens its position in a consolidating market and expands its offering, combining a broader product portfolio, a unified service network, and a stronger platform for continuous innovation.
Thomas Myrvold, chief executive officer of Mørenot Aquaculture, has been appointed as the CEO of the merged company.
"Our vision is to become the global provider of end-to-end aquaculture innovation," said Myrvold. "This means combining world-class technology, smart products, strong service capabilities and a global footprint with the local presence our customers rely on. We want to help shape the future of aquaculture by acting as a global player and a solutions-focused innovation company, while remaining firmly rooted in the communities and regions we serve."
With ELDI, customers gain access to a fully integrated product line across protection, equipment, and aquaculture technology, supported by the world's largest network of service stations. Whether it is assistance on servicing nets from the water or maintaining complex systems, local expertise is always within reach.
The new ELDI organisation also accelerates research and development, driving automation, smarter farming systems and intelligent tools that make aquaculture more efficient, sustainable and resilient.
Although ELDI is planning to expand its product lines and global expertise across all markets, its presence will remain firmly local.
"The aquaculture industry is experiencing monumental development, driven by the need for smarter solutions, stronger sustainability and more resilient operations," the company said in a press release. "With the formation of ELDI, we aim to be at the forefront of this transformation. Our unified organisation accelerates research and development in areas such as automation, digital tools, and advanced farming systems that support higher efficiency and stronger environmental performance."
Hjörtur Erlendsson, CEO of Hampidjan and chairman of ELDI, said: "…the opportunities in aquaculture have never been greater as the need for aquaculture products has never been more and is growing, not only in salmon but also in other fish species around the world.
"With the establishment of ELDI, we are combining the capabilities needed to address these challenges in a targeted, strategic manner. Our goal is to be a driving force in the development of the industry and continue to grow on the strong foundation we have today; closer proximity to customers than others have, decades of knowledge and experience in the production of aquaculture equipment, Hampidjan's corporate culture where relentless product development is at the forefront and the production efficiency that we are building up in India."
The transition becomes fully effective on January 1, 2026, but collaboration across the three organisations has already begun.
