Vietnam Explore Australia's Aquaculture Market Opportunities

The Vietnam's seafood industry for the first time has sent a delegation to Australia to explore aquaculture market opportunities.

The 15-member Vietnam Association Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) delegation, which landed in Australia on Sunday, attended a seminar last Wednesday on Vietnamese seafood and procedures for exporting to Australia.

Ong Thi Kim Ngan, of VASEP's promotion department, said businesses from the two countries discussed Vietnam's seafood potential, exports to Australia and co-operation opportunities between the two countries' seafood processors and traders.

The seminar attracted more than 50 leading Australian seafood importers and exporters besides overseas Vietnamese in New South Wales. Ngan said that the Vietnamese delegation has been visiting some seafood trading and fisheries companies and would continue to do so until Sunday.

The Trade Office of Vietnam in Australia has finished drawing up a report on market demand, consumer taste, and wholesale and retail systems in the country.
