BRF SA aims to boost direct grain purchases from farmers to 40% by next year

Brazilian food processor BRF, a major player in the pork and poultry industry and a significant buyer of corn and soybeans, has outlined plans to elevate its direct purchases of grain from farmers, Yahoo! Finance reported.

The company aims to increase this figure to 40% of its total grain procurement by the coming year. This strategic move is part of BRF's broader efforts to increase control over its production chain while trying to reach its traceability goals.

In the previous year, BRF made direct purchases from farmers accounting for 17% of the materials used in feed production. Building on this, the company substantially increased its direct procurement to 32% in 2023.
