Vietnam shrimp company receives US quality recognition

The Sao Ta Joint Stock Food Import-Export Company or Fimex VN has received the 2006 Outstanding New Supplier Award from the US Darden Restaurant group for its extensive supply of safe shrimp products to the US.

Fimex VN is the first Vietnamese food company to receive such recognition, according to the Viet Nam Association of Shrimp Exporters and Processors (VASEP).

According to the Vietnamese News Agency, the company has this year earned some US$60 million seafood exports sold in almost 30 overseas markets

Its products such as fried shrimp and flour-coated shrimp have always achieved the highest standards on food hygiene and freshness as well as natural colour and fragrance as the company applies the international standards to quality management.

The company is due to list 6 million shares on the stock market on Dec. 7.
