New Zealand beef exports up in October

New Zealand beef exports totalled 14,704 tonnes (shipping weight) in October, up 15 percent from the same period in 2004, Meat & Livestock Australia said.

From January to October, cumulative beef exports totalled 333,891 tonnes (shipping weight), down 8 percent year-on-year.

New Zealand exported the most beef to the US in October, at 52 percent of total beef shipments for the month. However, exports to the US for the first ten months of this year totalled 164,091 tonnes (shipping weight), down 9 percent on-year.

Meanwhile, the country's beef exports to South Korea reached 1,568 tonnes in October, up 73 percent from the same period in 2004.
