China, Kazakhstan sign grain export deal
Kazakhstan's Prodcorporation has signed a contract with the Chinese grain export-import corporation COFCO to supply the Chinese autonomous region of Xinjiang with 50,000 tonnes of feed wheat, Prodcorporation said Wednesday.
Prodcorporation said there was interest in Xinjiang in Kazakhstan's grain, with the possibility of supplying at least 500,000 tonnes a year of feed grain and much greater amounts of hard milling wheat. But negotiations with Xinjiang traders were made difficult on decisions concerning grain quality control by Chinese authorities.
