Cherkizovo Group shares results of testing of biological agents
Cherkizovo Group recently unveiled the results of testing of biological products for agricultural applications.
The testing was conducted as part of the Innagro project initiated by Innopraktika institution.
In June 2021, Cherkizovo Group joined a project to test biological products for agricultural applications. As part of the Innagro project, the company and Innopraktika experts studied the properties of biological plant protection products and probiotic food additives for animals and poultry developed in Russian and CIS laboratories. The findings were presented in late November 2021.
Cherkizovo's poultry farm in the Bryansk Region, Russia, served as a platform to study the impact of innovative probiotic additives on broilers' health and weight gain. The product proved to be effective for 700,000 birds. The test group that received the biological additive gained weight faster throughout the rearing period.
Cherkizovo Group's involvement in the project is governed by a cooperation agreement and a roadmap approved by the parties at this year's St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
"Biological methods in intensive farming will be part of the future as they help make food products healthier while taking care of soil fertility and biodiversity. We now see an increasing interest in the Innagro project from large holdings,” said Vladimir Avdeenko, head of agro- and biotechnology development at Innopraktika. "Cherkizovo Group is a good example of the business that adopts sustainable agricultural practices as part of its forward-looking approach."
