Bird flu outbreak confirmed in Norfolk, UK, more than 25,000 turkeys to be culled
The UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) confirmed the ninth bird flu outbreak in the UK at a premises near King's Lynn in Norfolk, with over 25,000 turkeys set to be culled, LBC News reported.
A protection and surveillance zone of 3 km and 10 km from the infected farm has been set up to prevent the spread of the virus, which investigations underway to determine the source of the infection.
The latest outbreak comes after a turkey farm in Attleborough, also in Norfolk, was found to have bird flu on December 4.
The chief veterinary officers for England, Scotland, and Wales said all bird keepers in the UK must legally keep their flocks indoors from December 14. They must also follow biosecurity procedures announced by the UK government to stop the spread of bird flu.
