Pig, Poultry & Dairy Focus Asia 2010

Press Release

Pig, Poultry & Dairy Focus Asia 2010 is Asia's leading technical livestock conference with an opening joint session of three conferences that individually focus on poultry, pig and dairy production.

The three main topics of joint opening session are:

  • Benefits of breeding in the near future

  • Key roles of antioxidants in animal nutrition

  • Importance of testing strategies in reducing adverse effects of mycotoxins in animals
Poultry Focus Asia 2010 goes on to address the topics of the moment under the three broad headings of Nutrition Management, Breeder Management and Health Management.

In this current economic climate, it is appropriate for leading experts from Belgium, UK and Singapore to address various ways in which enzymes can ensure that livestock make better use of their feed, mycotoxin control and optimising the gut flora by the use of feed additives/probiotics.

Furthermore, Jacky Millard from the international breeder, Hubbard, takes an impartial look at how to evaluate feed trials during the topic, role of trace minerals in broiler breeder nutrition.

On the breeding front, there are several papers that look at different facets of breeder management such as the management of broiler breeder nests, maximising profit, disease prevention in egg type layer breeders and nutritional strategies for broiler breeders.

Speakers from the international incubation companies Petersime NV, Pas Reform, HatchTech NV, Jamesway and Chick Master will focus at different aspects of incubation management including embryo-response incubation, the importance of egg and chick quality, and new concepts in hatchery ventilation.

In the health section, international experts from 10 different countries will consider a variety of topics including salmonella control, gut defence mechanisms, necrotic enteritis, coccidiosis immunity, Gumboro disease, ILT and ND control, E. coli vaccination and the benefits that can be derived from in ovo vaccination.

Pig Focus Asia 2010 is similarly centred around three main themes:

  • Nutrition Management

  • Breeder Management

  • Health Management.
Under nutrition management, the use of specialist products such as enzymes, nucleotides, probiotics and herbs in improving swine performance will be considered. Peter Van't Veld from the Dutch company, Denkavit focus on the essentials of piglet feeding.  While the other speakers will look at nutritional approaches to maintain intestinal integrity, improving piglet performance, optimising sow productivity, feeding the 30 pig sow and sow trace mineral nutrition.

On the breeding front, topical issues such as stress control at farrowing, weaning capacity, breeding for efficiency, advances in semen analysis, boar taint control and controlling zearalenone in breeding pigs are being considered previously. Dr Zoilo Lapus, a veterinarian from Philippines and former president of the Asian Pig Veterinary Society will look at the future of porcine veterinary science.

On the health front subjects such as (PCV2 control and vaccination, respiratory disease, E. coli, stress management, PRRS vaccination, Actinobacillus pneumonia, Clostridium perfringens) in piglet scour and disinfection will be covered by leading veterinary experts from 10 different countries.

Dairy Focus Asia 2010 is also centred around three main themes similarly to Pig Focus Asia 2010 Speakers from around the world will focus on topics such as the role of trace minerals in foot health, countering heat stress, health and milk quality, organic trace minerals, advances in semen analysis, mastitis resistance, herd fertility, phosphorus availability, practical calf rearing, coccidiosis control in calves, reproductive health management, phytogenic feed additives, mycotoxins and the microbial analysis of dairy products.
