India November oilmeal exports fall 49 percent to 346,859 tonnes
India's November oilmeal exports nearly halved from a year earlier due to weak demand and lower crushing, the Solvent Extractors' Association said Friday (December 4).
Oilmeal exports in November totaled 346,859 tonnes and fell to 1.9 million tonnes in the first eight months of the fiscal that began April 1 from 3.4 million tonnes in the year-earlier period, it said in a statement.
India exports oilmeal mainly to Southeast Asian countries.
Soymeal exports in November fell 54 percent to 297,340 tonnes, while rapeseed meal exports declined 23 percent to 20,326 tonnes.
However, castorseed meal exports in November jumped to 23,318 tonnes from only 617 tonnes a year earlier.
In the April-November period, China bought 186,530 tonnes of oilmeal, consisting of 158,757 tonnes of rapeseed meal and 27,773 tonnes of soymeal.
Oilmeal exports to Vietnam fell sharply to 525,805 tonnes during the same period from 920,320 tonnes.
Oilmeal exports to other countries like South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand also declined, the trade body said.
