CP Prima to spend US$242 million to up performance
PT Central Proteinaprima (CP Prima) allocated US$242 million to strengthen the operations of two subsidiaries in Tulang Bawang in Lampung to boost shrimp production.
PT Central Proteinaprima, CP Prima's chief financial officer, said the company aims to revitalize PT Wachyuni Mandira (WM) and PT Aruna Wijaya Sakti (AWS), formerly called PT Dipasena Citra Darmaja.
The revitalization, which includes the refurbishment of machinery and the reopening of abandoned shrimp ponds, will be conducted in stages up until the middle of 2009.
Wachyuni Mandira revitalization programme will be completed by the end of this year, while Aruna Wijaya will begin in January 2008, and will be completed within 12 and 16 months, Taslim announced.
Taslim said that both companies operated hatcheries, ponds, feed mills, fish processing plants and power plants.
In November, the combined monthly production of shrimp increased by 110 percent to 1,479 tonnes from 705 tonnes in May, sourced from 76,000 hectares of shrimp ponds.
In addition of the two companies, CP Prima has another subsidiary in Lampung, PT Central Pertiwi Bahari, which is engaged in the same business.
