Vietnam unable to meet EU seafood demand

Vietnam's Trade Ministry said although many EU importers have rushed to place big orders for the country's seafood recently, many domestic exporters had to refuse them due to inadequate supplies.

EU demand for seafood during the Christmas holidays this year is expected to surge due to the recent emergence of bird flu in Europe, which dampened poultry consumption.

Shrimp, basa catfish and other processed seafood made up a major part of EU orders.
