Irish pigmeat permitted to enter Malaysia
Ireland has secured access to export pigmeat to Malaysia, Irish Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Charlie McConalogue and Minister of State Martin Heydon announced.
The opening of the market comes as a result of Ireland's work in collaboration with its embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Bord Bia and other industry stakeholders.
Malaysia is a multi-ethnic country with a population of 33 million, and has a sizeable consumer market for pork. Per capita consumption of pork amounts to 17kg annually.
