Drop in Spain's pork exports to non-EU markets slowed in first nine months of 2022

 

 

 

The decrease in Spain's pork exports to markets outside the European Union continued in the first nine months of 2022, but it has slowed down compared to the first half of the year.

 

From January to September of this year, Spain exported a total of 1,359,089 tonnes of meat and meat products outside the EU, of which almost 90% were pork.

 

Exports of pork meat and products reached 1,211,178 tonnes, which represents a 19% decrease compared to the same period last year, although this drop is slowing down. By looking at data from the first half of 2022, the decline in percentage compared to the same period in 2021 was -24%.

 

China remains the leading destination, but exports to this country have decreased by 53.4%, while exports to the Philippines (+61%), Japan (+57.4%), South Korea (+62.9%) and the United Kingdom (+49.9%) have increased.
