China's 2011 corn output said to hit 192 million tonnes
Corn production in China reached 191.75 million tonnes in 2011, a jump of 8.2% over last year, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said Friday (Dec 2).
Meanwhile, the country yielded 200.78 million tonnes of rice and 117.92 million tonnes of wheat this year, respectively up 2.6% and 2.4% on-year.
The significant increase in corn output will further improve China's grain production structure, the NBS noted.
