Brazil: Pork and chicken exports rise, beef declines

 

 

Brazil's chicken exports volume rose by 33 percent, pork exports were up by 1 percent, while beef exports fell by 18 percent on-year.

 

Chicken exports in November valued at US$405.4 million from US$303 million year-on-year, a rise of 33 percent. In October 2007, these exports totaled US$405.6 million.

 

In volume, the chicken shipments were from 268,400 tonnes to 264,300 tonnes, a slight decline of 1 percent.

 

Pork exports also climbed by 1 percent from 47,700 tonnes to 48,300 tonnes year-on-year. These exports totaled to US$112.8 million this year against US$97.7 million last year.

 

Brazil's beef exports, on the other hand, dipped by 18 percent from 121,600 tonnes to 99,100 tonnes on-year. From generating around US$334.7 million last year, the beef export industry declined at US$308-million overseas sales this year.

 

The figures were released by the Brazilian Development Ministry Foreign Trade Department (Secex).
