Vinamilk may seek Singapore stock listing

 

 

The Vietnam Dairy Products Company or Vinamilk, may enlist its shares on Singapore's stock market next year and the first Vietnamese company to be included in a foreign listing, reports the Thanh Nien News daily.

 

Vinamilk, Vietnam's largest listed firm is valued at around US$930 million on the stock market and its dairy products and beverages have a market share of 75 percent.

 

The company also deals in real estate and provides warehousing and transport services.

 

According to Le Thi Bang Tam, chairwoman of the government investment arm State Capital Investment Corporation, aside from Vinamilk, the Hanoi-based information technology firm FPT is also seeking outside listing in 2008

 

FPT is valued at US$680 million on unofficial markets, is scheduled to make its debut on Vietnam's stock market next month.

 

Interest in Vietnam's stock market is on the rise as markets open up and foreign investors pouring in to bargains

Its entry to the World Trade Organisation last month is expected to attract more investments, making it a economic powerhouse in the Southeast Asia
