US's Triumph Foods to open second pork plant
US hog producer group, Triumph Foods, would open its second pork plant in early 2009 in East Moline, Illinois State, the company said.
Worth US$150-million, the plant would process about 16,000 hogs a day.
Meanwhile, the company's other pork processing plant in St. Joseph, Missouri State, would open in January 2006.
Triumph Foods said the East Moline plant would have hog slaughter and fresh pork operations like the St. Joseph plant.
The company added that Seaboard Foods, a unit of Seaboard Corp., would market the St. Joseph plant's pork. However, there were no marketing plans yet for the East Moline plant.
