EU Approves Roundup Ready Corn Safe For Consumption & Animal Health
 

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has approved a Roundup Ready corn variety as safe for human consumption and animal health, Reuters reports.

EFSA reviewed and approved Monsanto's NK603 corn variety, but the move is only a first step in opening European markets for Roundup Ready corn.

The EFSA must now decide whether to allow imports of NK603. A committee will address that decision early 2004.
