Trouw Nutrition's first Indian premix plant to be inaugurated next week
Trouw Nutrition has established a four-acre, 20,000-tonne manufacturing facility, its first in India, at Jadcherla near Hyderabad in southern India, The Hindu reported.
The company is also setting up a manufacturing plant in Gujarat in western India, which is expected to be ready by early 2022. Together, the two facilities entails an investment of 20 million euros (~US$24.31 million; 1 euro = US$1.22).
The Jadcherla plant is scheduled to be inaugurated by Netherlands Ambassador Marten Van den Berg on December 7. The plant uses high-end technology designed to deliver superior quality premix for customers in South Asia. Specifically, the plant will produce vitamins, mineral premixes, mineral blends and feed safety solutions for all species.
From raw material handling to packaging, the entire manufacturing process is automated, says Saurabh Shekhar, managing director - South Asia of Nutreco. The Jadcherla plant is expected to reach full capacity utilisation by 2025.
"Establishing a state-of-the-art production facility in Hyderabad is our way of reinforcing commitment to South Asia and Indian markets. This is just the beginning in our long voyage to gain a strong foothold here," says Jurriën Zandbergen, managing director of Nutreco, Asia.
While the company's current focus is on the B2B segment, next steps are in the pipeline for the B2F (business to farmers) segment. Zandbergen says Nutreco has both organic and inorganic growth plans to expand its footprint in South Asia. NuFrontiers, Nutreco's investment entity, has invested in start-ups globally, including the aquaculture IoT enterprise Eruvaka in India.
