EU bans poultry export from five Polish counties over bird flu
The EU banned the export of poultry from five Polish counties due to bird flu outbreaks.
Krzysztof Jazdzewski, Poland's chief veterinarian, said the ban has been imposed after bird flu virus was discovered at two turkey farms in central Poland.
Binding EU principles ban the import of meat from a 3-kilometre danger zone and 10-km threat zone around the outbreak site.
However, no EU member may ban imports from an entire member state.
