Russia Lifts Ban on US Texas Poultry Imports

Russia has removed a nine-month-old ban on poultry product imports and feed from US Texas imposed due to avian flu cases there, according to the Agriculture Ministry on Thursday.

The ban, which was imposed in February, had covered live birds, eggs and all poultry products that had not undergone thermal treatment. It was lifted as of December 1, the ministry's press service said.

Russia had previously lifted a ban imposed on the states of Maryland and Delaware.

Russia's import cap on poultry this year is 1.16 million tons, of which about 851,000 tons will come from the United States. Russia is the largest market for US poultry.
