South Korea confirms H5N8 bird flu outbreak on duck farm
The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) said South Korea has confirmed a H5N8 bird flu outbreak on a duck farm in Girin-ri town, southwest of the country, Reuters reported.
Citing the South Korean Agriculture Ministry, the OIE said the outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu strain killed 19,000 ducks at the farm.
392,000 chickens and ducks from six farms in the vicinity have been culled to prevent the spread of the virus, the South Korean Agriculture Ministry said.
