Yeast specialist Leiber receives ISO certification for energy management

 

Leiber GmbH has been certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001:2012 for efficient energy management.

Since the beginning of the year, the company has been setting up an energy management system. With the introduction of this system, the specialist in refining of brewer's yeast aims to improve energy performance and uncover both major and minor ways of saving energy.

With its own biogas plant and two micro gas turbines, the company produces about 35% of its electrical requirement and about 10% of its heat energy needs. In addition, the remaining 65% of electricity needs are covered entirely by renewable electricity from hydropower.

Lower energy costs, higher energy efficiency and the reduction of total energy consumption by the company was certified by the independent testing service provider TÜV Rheinland.

Leiber has two locations in Germany, as well as production facilities in Poland and Russia.
