China Corn: Prices set to hit new highs (week ended Nov 27, 2020)
Corn prices increased further amid concerns of inadequate availability. Despite ample supplies in the near term, China is expected to face corn shortages in 2021, particularly in the south where livestock inventories recover steadily.
Corn prices averaged RMB2,529/tonne, climbed by RMB15/tonne or 0.61% compared with the previous week.
With domestic production low and imports likely to decrease due to poorer than expected harvest in some countries, corn supplies in China will be tight. Prices are set to break 2014's record, which is less than 2% away.
