Northern France detects highly pathogenic bird flu on poultry farm
France has detected highly pathogenic bird flu on a poultry farm in the north of the country, the farm ministry said last week, Reuters reported.
The strain has yet to be identified. To prevent disease spread, the poultry would be slaughtered and the farm disinfected.
Several cases of severe bird flu had already been detected in France in the past month among backyard poultry, prompting the government to mandate that poultry flocks be kept indoors.
The outbreak also comes amid several outbreaks in poultry farms in Europe and Asia in recent weeks.
