Belgium confirms H5N5 bird flu outbreak
The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) said Belgium has confirmed an outbreak of H5N5 bird flu on a poultry farm in Menen town, Reuters reported.
The highly pathogenic H5N5 bird flu outbreak in Menen town, west of the country and bordering France, killed 600 birds. A further 151,000 birds have been culled to prevent the spread of the virus.
Europe's poultry industry is on high alert after the region reported several cases of bird flu in recent weeks, believed to be spread by wild birds.
