Portugal exports more pork in first three quarters of 2020
Portugal's exports of pork and pork products rose 42% in volume between January and September this year, compared to the same period in 2019.
Export volume was 50,865 tonnes for the period in 2020 compared to 72,303 tonnes for the same period in 2019. Concerning the total value, this represents an increase of 53% in the same reference period, from €9.26 billion (US$11.1 billion) to €14.18 billion (US$17 billion).
Exports of pork and pork products, in this period in relation to the same period, are broken down as follows:
- Frozen pork exports increased about 79%, from 13,752 tonnes to 24,636 tonnes;
- Exports of fresh / chilled pork decreased approximately 5%, from 9,286 tonnes to 8,828 tonnes;
- Offal exports increased 12.7%, from 8,276 tonnes to 9,327 tonnes.
