Xinjiang, China, to maintain cotton output of three million tonnes till 2015
China's Xinjiang is expected to maintain an annual cotton production of around three million tonnes till 2015.
Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the biggest cotton production base in the country, yielded 3.18 million tonnes of cotton in 2012, up 9.7% on year.
Xinjiang's cotton planting area grew 2.75% on year to 1.65 million hectares this year.
To promote a further development of the region's cotton industry, China will begin to strengthen financial support for its high-quality cotton production base from 2012 onwards.
