Vietnam's Jan-Nov wheat imports reach 2.29 million tonnes
In the first eleven months of this year, Vietnam is estimated to have spent US$719 million on importing 2.29 million tonnes of wheat.
The General Statistics Office said on Tuesday (Nov 27) that the figures represent an on-year decrease of 1.4% in value and an increase of 6.7% in volume.
In November, the country is likely to import 150,000 tonnes worth US$56 million compared to 82,000 tonnes worth US$29 million in October.
Earlier the Vietnam Customs reported that the country spent US$699.22 million on importing 2.24 million tonnes of wheat in the year as of November 15. Vietnam imports wheat from Australia, the US, Canada, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey.
The Southeast Asian country imported 2.39 million tonnes of wheat worth US$802 million worth in 2011.
