EU pork exports dropped in first nine months of 2022
In the first nine months of 2022, EU pork exports were 18.2% below compared to the same period last year (3,917,697 tonnes in 2022 versus 4,787,623 tonnes in 2021).
Since 2018, exports have not dropped below four million tonnes during the first nine months of the year.
China remains the leading destination for EU pork, although its share in total exports has halved, from 2,173,489 tonnes between January and September 2021 to 1,062,955 tonnes for the same period this year. The country is followed by the United Kingdom, Japan, the Philippines and South Korea as the main destinations.
Exports to these countries in the first nine months of 2022 have increased compared to the same period of 2021 (Japan at +30.8%, the Philippines at +34.8% and South Korea at +52.2%). However, they have decreased for China (-51.1%) and UK (-10.2%).
