Peru's fishmeal export revenues drop nearly 28%
Peru's exported revenues were down nearly 28% toUS$1.07 billion from US$1.4 billion compared with the year-to-date figures from September 2012, according to Peru's production ministry.
Decreases in exported volumes likely contributed to the revenue decline. Through September Peruvian fishmeal exports are down over 43% to 1,145,000 tonnes.
Additionally, the per tonne prices has declined from US$1,598/tonne in 2012 to US$1,443 tonnes in September 2013. China continues to be the top market for fishmeal aving imported over 400,000 tonnes in 2013.
