Ukraine's soy conquers Europe, Asia markets
Ukrainian soy output may surpass four million tonnes throughout the harvesting areas of two million ha by 2015, as against 2.3 million tonnes from 1.1 million ha in 2011, said Viktor Timchenko, President of the Ukrainian association of soy producers and crushers.
At the same time, exports of soy from Ukraine in 2015 may reach the level of 1.1 million tonnes against 800,000 tonnes in the current year.
According to Timchenko, realized works on different levels during the period from 2004 to 2011 gave an opportunity to talk about the production volumes of four million tonnes of soy in 2015.
In particular, he noted that the realized work contributed to the dynamics of continuous growth of the areas under soy and its production in Ukraine.
In 2011, the country already harvested 2.3 million tonnes of the oilseed throughout 1,121,100 ha with the yield of 20.4 c/ha, in 2009 the country came at the first place among the EU and CIS countries, in 2010 - the 8th place among 75 countries-producers on the world market, said the President of the Association.
He also noted that Ukrainian soy won markets in Europe and Asia. During the first 9 months of the present year Ukrainian soy were exported to Iran - 198,600 tonnes, Italy - 161,600 tonnes, Germany - 55,100 tonnes, Syria - 56,600 tonnes, Poland - 11,900 tonnes, Turkey - 37,900 tonnes, the USA - 8,900 tonnes.
Timchenko said that Ukrainian livestock producers increased own interest in domestic soy products. The current capacities of soy processing amount to 1.7 million tonnes against 160,000 tonnes in 2003.
